Mrs. Nancy Schunke
In the early 90's as I was working on my Human Development and Family Studies Degree, I started substitute teaching. One spring, I got a job to sub at Coronado High School. It started as a two day job, but turned into a long term semester job. I was teaching Biology and Chemistry since I had a lot of chemistry hours in college when I thought I might pursue pharmacy. The experience I had teaching as a sub at CHS prompted me to pursue a career in education. Now, I am teaching in the same classroom I was a substitute in so long ago and I cannot imagine being anywhere else right now!
I am starting my 22nd year of teaching overall and my 20th year with LISD. I have been teaching at CHS since 2009 and currently teach Pre-AP Chemistry, Math for Innovators (3rd Year Engineering) and Robotics I and II. I am the Robotics teams Lead Mentor and also the T-STEM Academy Coordinator for Coronado.
I am enthusiatic about all things science and engineering, I am a huge Star Wars fan and I build droids with my students. I am also an avid knitter and love to do many types of crafty things like sewing, quilting and scrapbooking. I am married to the Richard Schunke, who is employed at Texas Tech Univeristy and we have three Pekingeses that we adore. We are both proud graduates of Texas Tech University.
