Yvonne Valdez, Principal

I am very honored and excited to begin my first year as your principal here at Brown Elementary!  As I begin my twentieth year with Lubbock ISD, I have served at Tubbs, Mahon, Preston Smith, Ramirez, Ervin, Alderson Elementary, and McCool Middle school in various roles from a teaching assistant, teacher, instructional coach, Texas Tech Principal Fellow, and assistant principal. I was also named the 2018-2019 TEPSA Region 17 Assistant Principal of the Year. These diverse experiences have given me insight into the different campus cultures and communities.

I received my bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. I followed that with a master's degree in Educational Leadership also from Texas Tech University.

My husband and I have two amazing sons, both of whom attend Lubbock ISD. We love spending family time together watching movies, playing games, and traveling!

I look forward to the 2022-2023 school year with you all!  Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can help in any way.

Debbie Crites, Assistant Principal

I am very excited about joining the Brown team for the 2022 - 2023 school year.    I am beginning my 28th year in Lubbock ISD.  During my career, I taught first through fifth grades and was an instructional coach at Dupre.  I spent the past 10 years at Stewart and Williams as an assistant principal.

I received my bachelor's and master's degrees at Lubbock Christian University.

I have been married to my husband Ed for 31 years and we have 3 beautiful daughters. Allison, our oldest, is an Athletic Trainer in Frisco, Micaela is an education major at Texas Tech, and Emily is attending South Plains College to be a paramedic.

I look forward to serving the Brown staff, students, families, and the community!
