My goal for Dunbar is to provide a challenging educational program for all students within a safe, nurturing environment, as we enable students to function as productive, ethical and responsible citizens.

A growth-mindset is vital as students participate in academic and co-curricular programs with a willingness to act responsibly as a positive contributor within our educational environment. Parental involvement and support are strongly encouraged and is also a major factors that will enable all to have a successful and enjoyable school year.

Below are some of my beliefs:

•  Education is a cooperative effort of parents, students, staff, and community.
•  All students are unique individuals with varied interest and abilities.
•  All students can be successful learners based on their ability.
•  All students have a right to be educated to the fullest potential.
•  Individual guidance is critical to maximize each student's potential.
•  High expectations directly affect performance.
•  A nurturing, safe environment is conducive to learning.

Together we can make a difference.

Jesus Arenas, Jr.- 8th Grade

Dunbar CPA is excited to announce the selection of Mr. Jesus Arenas as the newest member on their administrative leadership team as Assistant Principal for the 2021-2022 school year. Mr. Arenas comes to us with 18 years of educational experience, with his first assignment starting at Dunbar Middle School and Estacado High School in 2002, as a teacher and coach. He moved on to Lubbock High School and then to Coronado High School from 2005-2010 as an Assistant Basketball Coach and AP English teacher. From there, he transitioned back to Lubbock High School as the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach from 2010-2016. After many years in that realm, he went into administration at Levelland Middle School as an Assistant Principal, then on to New Deal as the Middle School Principal. He is committed to being an integral part of the Dunbar leadership team and is eager to support the vision of Mrs. Anderson. His roots at Dunbar and in the community remain impactful, as he has been greeted with huge smiles and hugs from current staff members, who were his former colleagues and even students! Mr. Arenas is a product of grit, determination, and is also a lifelong learner. He was a first-generation high school and college graduate and played basketball at Texas Tech for Bobby Knight. He is currently working on a doctorate in Educational Leadership from TTU, as well. Of all of his accomplishments, he is most proud to be the father of his 21-year-old daughter and Texas Tech student, Destiny.
