The Lubbock Independent School District is committed to continue providing safe and effective learning environments, unique programming and excellent educational opportunities for the 28,000 students of the district. Our mission is to prepare students for life by nurturing, developing and inspiring every child, every day. To fulfill this goal, the district must continually evaluate facilities and support systems to determine if learning environments are equipped to best support the future of our educational programs in the safest manner available.
In response to community, parent and student input regarding new safety challenges, aging facilities and economic pressures, Lubbock ISD is considering a possible bond election. The “Securing our Future Committee” has been formed to examine facilities and programs for a possible bond election in 2018. The committee represents a cross-section of the community and will study the facility needs of the school district and ultimately present a recommendation to the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees for consideration.
Obtaining different perspectives from the entire community is very important to the process. More than 100 citizens from a variety of geographic areas and backgrounds were invited to participate. The “Securing our Future” committee will study the safety, condition and capacity of district facilities, review programming opportunities, financial data, potential project solutions and costs, in order to make the best decisions for Lubbock ISD.
This website will be updated as committee works through the process and will include meeting agendas, presentations and relevant resources.
