I am very honored and excited to begin our mission here at Commander William C. McCool Academy! We believe McCool Academy's unique instructional model of project-based learning with a S.T.E.A.M. curricular focus is how students learn best! We believe learners are most actively invested in their learning when teaching is authentic and applied in a real-world context while engaging in meaningful projects. As I begin my ninth year in Lubbock ISD, I have served at Estacado High School, O.L. Slaton and Smylie Wilson Middle School in various roles.
I received my bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Lubbock Christian University. I followed that with a master's degree in Educational Leadership also from Lubbock Christian University.
My husband and I have one amazingly bright son. We love spending time together and traveling!
I look forward to such an amazing launch in our first year of implementation here at Commander William C. McCool Academy! Please contact me if I can help in any way throughout the school year.Yvonne Valdez, Assistant Principal

As I begin my seventeenth year with Lubbock ISD, I have served at Tubbs, Mahon, Preston Smith, Ramirez, Ervin and Alderson Elementary in various roles from a teaching assistant, teacher, instructional coach, Texas Tech Principal Fellow, and assistant principal. I was also named the 2018-2019 TEPSA Region 17 Assistant Principal of the Year. These diverse experiences have given me insight into the different campus cultures and communities.
