  • Academic Decathlon Region and State Competition

    Lubbock ISD had high school teams compete in the Texas Academic Decathlon and won over $2,000 in scholarships. Academic Decathlon is a team competition where students match their intellects with students from other schools. Students are tested in ten categories: Art, economics, essay, interview, language and literature, mathematics, music, science, social science, and speech.

  • Big wins for Lubbock ISD teams at the VTC Busy Bees Special Olympics

    Lubbock ISD Special Olympics’ basketball teams headed over to Odessa College to participate in the annual Permian Basin Special Olympics Basketball Tournament on Feb. 25. The Green team ended up winning silver while the White team brought home the gold!

  • Lubbock ISD HOSA heads to State

    Members of Lubbock ISD Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) traveled to El Paso for the area competition. Several of our HOSA members became state qualifiers and one area officer. They will be traveling to Round Rock at the end of March to compete at the state level.

    Big Wins at the Institute Top Tech Challenge

    Lubbock ISD’s Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center’s Automotive Technology students brought home $22,000 in scholarships and $5000 in Snap-On Tools and a Snap-On Toolbox after competing in the Top Tech Automotive Challenge. Two Lubbock HS seniors took first place in the team rounds, each winning a $10,000 scholarship to the University Technical Institute.

  • 10 DI teams advance to State Finals

    Lubbock ISD is proud to have 10 teams advancing to the 2023 Lone Star Finals State DI Tournament in Arlington, Texas on March 24-25. 12 schools had a competitive team place/ medal at the Northwest Plains DI Regional Tournament Saturday, Feb. 11th. Lubbock ISD had 23 Competitive DI Teams and four Non-Competitive DI Teams (students PK-2) compete.

  • Lubbock ISD hosted the Region 1-5A Swimming and Diving Championships at the Pete Ragus Aquatic Center.

    Lubbock ISD will have athletes from Coronado, Monterey and Lubbock High advancing to the state championships for a total of 26 athletes, the possibility of four more after the call-ups are announced on Thursday. The State Swimming and Diving Championship will be on Feb. 17-18 in Austin at the University of Texas Joe Jamail Aquatic Center.
