    • Senior Class Meeting will be on Wednesday, April 26th  at 9:20 (2nd Period) in the Auditorium. Students will need to report to 2nd period for attendance, then immediately come to the auditorium. The meeting might last into the beginning of 3rd period.

    • The MHS AG Agronomy team placed 7th at the Texas Tech State Contest Saturday, April 22nd.  Team members are Ethan Spence, Emily Scoggin, Sierra Henson and Violit Autry.

    • At South Plains College, Camille Bell was 1st High Individual out of 181 Individuals the South Plains College Livestock Contest (Sheep and Goat Division).

    • Athletic physicals  will be Wednesday, April 19th here at MHS. Cost is $15. Packets can be picked up in the athletic training room. Don’t forget that a physical and RankOne paperwork is required every year for athletics.  If you have any questions see Coach Reyes or Coach Templeton

    • Monterey Softball traveled to Abilene Cooper yesterday for their district opener and came home with 13-6 win! We host the school on 34th street Friday at 6:30 at Lady Plainsmen Field!

    • Seniors who are attending the senior meeting on Wednesday instead of attending their ATC classes will need to sign in with their attendance office prior to the meeting.  If a senior feels like he/she needs to attend their  ATC class instead of the senior meeting can opt to do so.  If any seniors miss the meeting, they can pick up an agenda from their counselor after the meeting on Wednesday.

    • Congratulations to the girls golf team as they played in Seminole during Spring Break. They were led by Tiana Shobe shooting 89-94 for a 183 total. Abby Satterfield shot her lowest round ever, 97. Ariel Vasquez also played well tying her lowest round ever.

    • The Lady Plainsmen defeated Abilene Cooper 3-0 last night. Ariel Diaz had 2 goals and 1 assist, Avery McNeme had 1 goal and 1 assist, and Adi McNeme had 1 assist. The lady plainsmen are 9-0 in district!!

    • A reminder to seniors that the PTA scholarship is due to Mrs. Holdridge by this  Tuesday afternoon.  Also remember seniors who are looking for scholarships need to check the scholarship link on the Monterey-Counselor page.  Scholarships are being posted weekly.  Visit with your counselor if you have questions.

    • On Monday, all students will be voting for their class’s Top Plainsmen using the Lubbock County voting booths.  Please make sure to present your school ID to vote and be courteous to the volunteers!

    • Freshmen, your choice sheets are due by Thursday, March 9th. Please turn them in to your English teachers as soon as they are completed and signed. Remember that if you do not turn in your choice sheet, your counselor will select your courses and a schedule change will not be allowed.

    • There is a list of student names outside Ms. Gipson's office (136) of fines or fees that you may have accrued in past years.  Seniors, you are not able to graduate if you owe anything for any reason so make sure you take care of this before May!

    • Juniors- Remember to turn in your course selection sheets for next year to your alpha counselor.  Your deadline to submit your 4-year plan course sheet is determined during your individual conferences with your counselor.  Not turning in your course selections will result in your counselor picking courses for you.  If you have not had your individual conference with your counselor…BE PATIENT!  Counselors are still in the process of visiting with juniors individually, and will be calling for you soon.   Visit with your counselor if you have questions.

    • Mary Hernandez dominated her opponent by winning in the 1st round by a Technical Fall. Alize Zamarripa in her 1st year as a wrestler also performed well but lost by pin. Freshman Taliyah Galindo wrestled a 3 time Regional Qualifer, but lost in the 2nd round by pin.

    • We will be taking semester exams on December 15th and 16th with an early release each day at 12:40.  Students will take exams in their morning classes (period 1-4) on December 15 and afternoon classes (period 5-8) on December 16.
