TSI TESTING
2022-2023
The TSI - Texas Success Initiative - is a required test for both dual credit courses as well as entrance into most Texas junior colleges.
The TSI Assessment (TSIA2) is part of the Texas Success Initiative program designed to help your college or university determine if you are ready for college-level course work in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. If you are an incoming college student in Texas, you are required to take the TSI Assessment - unless you are already exempt (read below) - to determine your readiness for college-level work. Based on how you perform, you may either be enrolled in a college-level course and/or be placed in the appropriate developmental course or intervention to improve your skills and prepare you for success in college-level courses. Students enrolled in dual-credit must show college readiness (i.e. pass the TSI), since these courses are qualified for college-credit.
The TSI is untimed, however, the CHS testing site will only be open from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Times for senior only sessions vary - see below. If a student does not finish the test in that time frame, they will save their work and must continue on the next scheduled CHS testing date.
