Wester ES Students Chat with Seaworld Trainers

Second-grade students at Wester Elementary School received a special treat last week as one of 30 schools in the nation to be selected for a live video chat with Shamu trainers to see firsthand how they care for the whales. The students prepared three questions to ask the trainers and were excited to see an Orca whale up close. They also learned about conservation and the part SeaWorld Orca trainers play in helping the whales in the wild. Second-grade science and social studies teacher Christie Rajcic entered the contest by filling out an application and writing an essay on why Wester's second-grade students should be chosen for the video chat.
