Maedgen ES first-grade teacher Ronnie Miller is co-directing "A Raisin in the Sun" at Lubbock Community Theatre later this month.
First produced in 1959, "A Raisin in the Sun" tells the story of a lower-class black family's struggle to gain middle-class acceptance. In her portrait of an embattled Chicago family, playwright and author Lorraine Hansberry posed eternal questions about identity, justice, and moral responsibility. The result is an award-winning American classic that's as powerful today as it was 50 years ago and an opportunity for both adults and students to experience literature coming to life on the stage.
