February Designated as "CTE Month"
CTE courses prepare students for successful careers through rigorous academic and work-based learning programs, promoting instructional partnerships with business and industry, and increasing awareness of the career opportunities to students.
The Lubbock ISD CTE program offers 143 high school and 14 middle school classes to students in 15 Career Clusters taught by 126 CTE teachers. A total of 11,961 students are enrolled in these classes this year, an 18 percent increase from last year.
Lists of all CTE high school courses, information about the program's weighted credit, college credit, and dual credit classes as well as industry certification and licensure opportunities for students is available on the CTE website. Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) are featured by career cluster along with career preparation data on fast-growing careers and lists of top-paying careers.
