In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the first Chef Community Council lunch event of the school year featured a menu titled “Passport to Spain” at Williams Elementary School last Wednesday. Chef Angela Medlock prepared a delicious chicken and chorizo paella with a side of pipirrana salad, but the meal wasn’t the only area of Spanish culture the students were exposed to. Spanish music played in the cafeteria, students were taught a few basic Spanish words as they went through the food line, and they had cards at their tables with some of Spain’s most famous pop culture icons.
