Middle school students compete in annual STEM challenge
Lubbock ISD middle school science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers hosted the annual Career and Technical Education (CTE) STEM Challenge competition at the Science Spectrum last Thursday, with 300 students from all ten middle school campuses participating.
Students worked in small groups to design zipline cargo crafts and marble projectiles using a variety of materials. These "innovation challenges'' encourage students to think outside of the standard curriculum and use their creativity to solve real-world problems. Thank you to the CTE teachers, more than 30 high school volunteers, and the Science Spectrum for another successful year.
