Lubbock HS swimmer Ellis Fox signs with Texas A&M

Preparing for the next step in her athletic career, Lubbock High School swimmer Ellis Fox signed her national letter of intent to compete for the Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving program in a special ceremony surrounded by friends and family.

A three-time state champion and National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) All-American, Fox heads into the second half of her senior season with a stellar resume in her three years on the varsity squad. In just three years, she has racked up twelve district champion titles, twelve regional champion titles, seven state runner-up distinctions, as well as a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley.

Fox earned NISCA All-America honors in all three of her seasons with the Westerners, beginning with the 400m freestyle relay, 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke nods as a freshman in 2020. She garnered the honor as a member of Lubbock High’s 200m medley relay crew as a sophomore in 2021 and she capped off her junior season with marks again in the 100m fly and 100m back.

The three-year letterwinner holds a multitude of records including the city and school records for the 200m medley relay, 100m back, 100m fly, as well as the 200m and 400m free relays.

At the district and regional level, Fox currently holds the records for the 200m medley relay, 100m back, 100m fly, and 200 and 400m free relays, as well as the district record for the 200m IM. Fox is also a member of the state record-holding 200m medley relay.

The Westerners will compete at the Pete Ragus Aquatic Center a few more times this season for the Lubbock Invitational on Jan. 6-7, the District 4-5A Championship Meet on Jan. 21, and a potential appearance at the Region 1-5A Championships on Feb. 3-4.
