Lubbock ISD Students Dominate Stash the Trash Art Contest

Lubbock ISD students took first, second and third place in the annual “Stash the Trash” art contest. The annual education campaign by Keep Lubbock Beautiful is an effort to address the problem of litter in Lubbock. Youth are invited to help by drawing a picture that reminds people to be responsible and to place their trash in the trash can or dumpster.

Megan Herrera from O.L. Slaton Middle School (left) is the grand prize winner. She receives $100 and will have her artwork displayed on a solid waste truck. The second-place prize and $75 award goes to Zain Castillo from Cavazos Middle School (top right), and the third-prize winner of $50 goes to K'Anna Criswell from Overton Elementary School (bottom right)
