Lubbock ISD Students Advance to State Best Robotics Contest

Three Lubbock ISD teams are advancing to the state BEST Robotics competition after successful performances at the regional contest this weekend. Teams from Monterey High School, Talkington School for Young Women Leaders and Evans Middle School earned a trip to the Texas BEST and UIL State Robotics Championship in Frisco,Texas this November. The awards are as follows:

  • Monterey High School: BEST CAD/Graphic Design Award, Robot Game category - third place, second place overall (state qualifer)
  • Talkington School for Young Women Leaders: Robot Game category - fourth place (state qualifier)
  • Evans Middle School: Robot category - state qualifer
  • Hutchinson Middle School: Founder's Award for Creative Design

BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) Robotics organizes annual robotics competitions that introduce middle and high school students to engineering, problem solving and teamwork to provide insight about working in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers.
