Trustees Announce Stephen as New Coronado HS principal

Julia Stephen was announced as Coronado High School’s new principal at Thursday morning's board meeting. Stephen will be replacing Jerry Adams as he transfers to Comfort ISD to begin a new position as assistant superintendent.

Stephen worked as an associate principal at Kennedale High School and assistant principal at Kennedale Junior High School prior to joining Lubbock ISD as an assistant principal at Irons Middle School in August 2018. She earned her undergraduate degree in Science, Biology and Kinesiology at Midwestern State University in 1998 and her master’s degree in Education Administration from Lamar University in 2014. She began her teaching career at Wichita Falls ISD in 1996, where she took the roles of teacher and coach.

Stephen’s husband, Shane Stephen, is the athletic coordinator and head football coach at Lubbock High School. They have four children: Charlee Rose (kindergartener at Whiteside), Adam (seventh grader at Irons), Austin (18) and Hannah (freshman at University of Arkansas).
