The Monterey Computer Science teams competed over the weekend in the TCEA State Coding Contest. Zoey Stucker and Carter Lewis placed 2nd in Region D, and Cameron Davis and Braden Chilcutt placed 1st in the state novice division. Both teams also had top-ten finishes in the Lockheed Martin CodeQuest challenge.
The Monterey UIL Academics team competed and did very well in the Virtual Challenge Meet State Qualifier this past week.
In accounting, Aubrey Kitten placed 7th, Zeke Lusk placed 8th, and Cameron Davis placed 9th. They were the 2nd place team in 5A.
The calculator team of Abbey Morelock, Naomi Spears, and Carter Lewis placed 6th in 5A.
In computer science, Zoey Stucker placed 5th, Carter Lewis placed 4th, Mason Bohn placed 3rd, Braden Chilcutt placed 2nd, and Cameron Davis placed 1st. They were the 1st place team in 5A.
In literary criticism, Anyssia Hernandez placed 6th, Jolee Peal placed 5th, and Mia Capodagli placed 4th. They were the 2nd place team in 5A.
In math, Konstance Jimenez placed 10th, Caleb Tipton placed 8th, Cameron Davis placed 7th, and Braden Chilcutt placed 6th. They were the 2nd place team in 5A.
In number sense, Matthias Alvarado placed 14th, Scotty Going placed 13th, Cameron Davis placed 12th, and Braden Chilcutt placed 9th. They were the 3rd place team in 5A.
In spelling, Genesis Rios placed 4th, Millie Moore placed 3rd, and Caleb Tipton placed 1st. They were the 1st place team in 5A.
In science, Cameron Davis placed 13th in biology, 14th in chemistry, and 12th in physics. Alex Barraza placed 12th in biology, 15th in chemistry, and 13th in physics. Jake Dorton placed 11th in biology, 10th in chemistry, and 14th in physics. They were the 3rd place team in 5A.
