Five Lubbock ISD Students Receive Harrington Scholarships
Five Lubbock ISD students were surprised last Monday with Don and Sybil Harrington Scholarships totaling $100,000.
The students were eligible to apply for the scholarship to be used pursuing a bachelor's degree with a major in science, mathematics, or engineering. Recipients are selected each year based on their level of academic motivation, motivation for study in their chosen field, SAT and/or ACT scores, and grade point average. The scholarship is intended to provide significant financial support for Lubbock County’s best and brightest students both now and for generations to come.
Four of the recipients are from Lubbock High School: Sarah Cheatham and Alexander Karamyshev will be attending the University of Texas, Carson Freimuth will be attending Texas Tech University, and Monana Khare will be attending Cornell University. Monterey High School senior Blake Moore also received the scholarship and will be attending Texas Tech University. Each student receives $20,000 to support the pursuit of their postsecondary degrees.
