Lubbock ISD Students Dominate Hub City Filmstival

Lubbock ISD students competed in the third annual Hub City Filmstival last week and racked up the awards. The event featured short films created by area middle and high school students ranging from 45 seconds to eight minutes long. The Hub City Filmstival was sponsored by Lubbock ISD-TV, South Plains College Radio/TV/Film, Scarborough Specialties, and Premiere Cinemas. The first-place winners in each category are listed below:

  • Middle School: World War III by Cameron Rodela, Zachery Prieto, Brayden Mills, and Steven Shen (Hutchinson Middle School)
  • Animated: The Princess and the Witch by Doreen Shi (Lubbock High School)
  • 45 seconds to 2 minutes: Procrastination by Alexander Karamyshev (Lubbock High School)
  • 2 to 5 minutes: The Dry Runs by Emily Shafer (Coronado High School) and Nick Venhuizen (Lubbock High School)
  • 5 to 8 minutes: Affirmation X by Grace Rodela (Lubbock High School), Kenaya Anderson (Lubbock High School), and Jazz Hereford (Monterey High School)
