Heath G. Harris

Heath Harris attended Hodges Elementary School, Alderson Junior High School, and Estacado High School. He graduated from Estacado in 1983. He then earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Texas Tech University, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

While a student at Estacado High School, Mr. Harris was involved in student government and athletics. He was elected student body president, Prom King, and was first runner up for Mr. EHS. Mr. Harris was a four year letterman in baseball and a member of the Matador State Finalist teams in both 1981 and 1982.

Mr. Harris worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Dallas County District Attorney's Office (1996-2000). He then opened his own law practice as a criminal defense attorney (2000-07). Since 2007, Mr. Harris has served as the Chief Prosecutor of the Gang Prosecution Unit for the Dallas County District Attorney's Office.

Recognizing the importance of community involvement, Mr. Harris is involved in a variety of organizations. He is a member of the NAACP and the Project Safe Neighborhood Anti-Gang Initiative Task Force. He volunteers with Big Brothers and Sisters and serves as a coach for the YMCA. He is a member of Friendship West Baptist Church. He resides in the Dallas area with his wife, Yvette, and their two children, Heather and Heath II.
