Major Charles G. Woodruff, III

Major Charles Woodruff Charles Gerald Woodruff III attended Waters Elementary School, O.L. Slaton Middle School, and Estacado High School. He graduated from Estacado in 1997 as the Salutatorian. He then accepted an appointment to the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point.

While at Estacado High School, Charles was a member of the Varsity Basketball Team. He averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds and was named All-District as a senior.

Charles attended the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) after graduating from Estacado High School. Charles was a key member of the USMAPS Basketball Team by averaging 16.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and led the team in field goal percentage (58%). During the 1998 season, Charles was named team co-MVP. In addition, Charles earned Dean’s List honors at USMAPS and began attending USMA from 1998-2002. He was a four year letterman for the Army Black Knights basketball. As a senior, Charles earned the Roosma Award as the Black Knights Most Valuable Player. Charles averaged 16.2 points per game and was voted to the All-Patriot League second team.

He graduated from the USMA with a Systems Engineering degree in 2002. Charles then went on to earn a Leadership and Management Master’s Degree from Webster’s University in 2006.

Charles Gerald Woodruff III was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant (2LT) in the U.S. Army in 2002. He has served in Fort Monmouth, NJ, Fort Bliss, TX, South Korea, Fort Gordon, GA, Fort Drum, NY, and Afghanistan. Charles’ military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and two Overseas Service Ribbons.

Charles is currently a Major in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Bliss, TX. He is married to Dr. Claudia A. Woodruff, PT, DPT and they have two daughters.
