Fred Whiteattended Wheatley and Martin Elementary Schools, Alderson Junior High School, and Estacado High School. He graduated from Estacado in 1968. He then attended Howard Payne University on an athletic scholarship.
While a student at Estacado High School, Mr. White was an outstanding member of the Matador football team. He earned All-District and All-City honors as a middle linebacker. Mr. White was also Estacado’s first student-athlete to be named All-State. He was a member of the Estacado State Champion Football team in 1968, and he represented Estacado in the Green Belt Bowl in Childress.
While a student-athlete at Howard Payne University, Mr. White was a member of the Lone Star Conference Championship team (1971) with a 9 and 1 season and helped the Yellow Jackets win the Cowboy Bowl played in Oklahoma.
Mr. White worked as a journeyman electrician for Excel Energy for 24 years. He was also an active member of Community Baptist Church, where he serves as chairman of the Deacon board. He continues to reside in the Lubbock with his wife, Lucy. Together, they have four children and eight grandchildren.
