Lubbock HS Pom Squad Racks up Awards at Recent Competition

The Lubbock High School Pom Squad team received several awards for their hard work at the American Dance and Drill Team Competition on February 23. All three of the team’s dances scored the highest possible with a division 1 score. The team was also awarded the Gussie Neal Davis award for receiving a score higher than 93 on all of their dances.

The judges also awarded them with choice awards for their team contemporary, jazz, and hip hop dances. They received first-place team in the extra small category and sixth-best team overall for any team size category. Additionally, the team won the academic champions award for being the team with the highest average GPA overall. Blayke Wilson, Lexie Najjar, and Sydney More also won solo awards in the extra small team division. The team has been invited to the American Dance and Drill Team Nationals, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, and the Bowl Games.
