High School Cross Country Results

The Monterey High School Plainsmen cross country teams were in action at the Coppell Invitational, and the girls and boys teams both turned in solid performances. Sophomore Abigail Casanova ran a 21:55.9 to win the girls’ race and help Monterey to a fifth-place team finish. Kayden Crawford ran the second-best time for the Plainsmen girls in 23:13.3. The Plainsmen boys landed in second place among 19 teams, with three runners placing in the top 19. Luke Holt paced Monterey with a 10th-place performance, while Dalton Yeoman and Xavier Sanchez ended up 18th and 19th.

Lubbock High School cross country athlete Isaac Alonzo breezed to the individual title at the Tascosa Rebel Run last weekend with a time of 16:50.24 -- just over 32 seconds better than the next runner. Coronado placed 8th in the boys meet, led by Eliseo Olbera, Gabriel Ortega, and Roman Martinez. In the girls’ race, Lubbock High’s Alyssa Singletary ran to a 19th-place showing to anchor the Lady Westerners’ fourth-place finish in the team scoring.
