    • Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Lay from Whiteside Elementary.

Beginning this week Lubbock ISD will be administering the Measures of Academic Progress tests in reading and mathematics to all kindergarten-5th grade students during the month of August and September. These two assessments will help to determine your student’s instructional level as well as measure their academic growth throughout the school year and from year to year.

MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to your child’s level of learning. Therefore, all students have the same opportunity to succeed. These tests are short and require limited class time but still provide detailed, accurate information about your child’s learning and growth. Over the next few days, your child will spend a total of about two hours completing these tests. In January and April, your students will test again so that growth can be measured.

We are pleased to have a tool that focuses on every child’s individual growth and achievement. Partnering to help all kids learn, parents and teachers can have a profound positive effect on the lives of our students.

Please contact the campus if you have any questions about these tests or the information obtained.
