The Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees focuses on the following goals:

The Board of Trustees is the official policy-making body of the Lubbock Independent School District. The seven trustees, elected from separate districts, serve staggered four-year terms.

Letters of Interest for District 5 Seat

At their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday (Sept. 24), the Lubbock Independent School District (Lubbock ISD) Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of District 5 Trustee John Weddige and will begin the process of identifying the person who will serve the rest of the District 5 term on the board. 

Weddige announced his resignation from the Board of Trustees, effective as of Sept. 30.

The board will now accept letters of interest and resumes from individuals who would like to be considered for the District 5 seat. Materials can be emailed to Board President Nancy Sharp at communications@lubbockisd.org and will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Oct. 13. The board will then consider the applicants, conduct interviews and decide on the individual who will serve out the remainder of the District 5 term (set to conclude in May 2028). The appointment should be made by the end of the fall semester.
