Registration, Transfer, Waitlist - Procedures

2025-2026 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration for the 2024-2025 school year will open April 3, 2025

Children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2025 to enroll in PreK or Head Start. A limited number of children who are three years old on or before September 1, 2025 and live in the Alderson, Carmona-Harrison, Ervin, or Nat Williams attendance zones will also be accepted.

The first step to enrolling your child in PreK/Head Start is to complete online registration. Online registration can be found HERE. All elementary campuses have computers available for those with no internet access at home. The next step is to schedule an eligibility appointment with your campus Family Support Specialist and bring the following documents:

  • child's birth certificate

  • child's Social Security card (if available)

  • child's immunization records

  • proof of address (utility bill, rent receipt, or lease agreement)

  • previous 12-months of income

Please be aware no registration is considered complete and your spot is not reserved until all documents have been turned in and an eligibility appointment has been completed.

Tuition Waiver:

Tuition for the 2025-2026 school year is $4,000. When enrolling, families may schedule an appointment to determine eligibility for a tuition waiver. Documentation of eligibility must be provided at the appointment. Students may qualify for tuition-free Head Start or state-funded Pre-K if they meet at least one of the following criteria:

To be eligible for free prekindergarten a child must:

  • Be four years of age on or before September 1 of the school year

AND meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • homeless

  • unable to speak or understand English

  • is eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program

  • the child of an active-duty member of the U.S. military or one who was injured or killed while serving on active duty

  • Is or ever has been in foster care or the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services

  • Be the child of a Star of Texas Award recipient

  • A Lubbock ISD classroom teacher

Space:

If space is not available at your home school, your child will be offered a space at a nearby campus.

Transfer Information:

The district January transfer deadline does not apply to PreK transfers. PreK transfer applications open on April 3, 2025 and are accepted throughout the school year. Instructions on completing a transfer can be found HERE. Please make sure you complete online registration for your child BEFORE completing the transfer request. Transfers approved for the PreK year allow a child to continue to attend the requested school through 5th grade. Children may return to their home campus at any time after a transfer is approved if space is available.
