Lubbock Matadors

Lubbock Independent School District (Lubbock ISD) and Lubbock Matadors SC are excited to announce they will continue their partnership at PlainsCapital Park for the 2026 Matadors season. This is the third season in a row that the Matadors have hosted home soccer games at Lowrey Field.

“Returning to Lowrey Field at PlainsCapital Park feels like coming home,” said Thomas Wolf, General Manager of the Matadors. “This will be our fourth out of five seasons playing at PCP, and there truly isn’t a better location, right in the heart of the city, accessible, and surrounded by the community that makes Lubbock special.”

The team returns to the pitch for their fifth season as members of the United Soccer League (USL) League Two’s Southern Conference Ranger Division. This is the club’s first season as part of USL League Two, having previously competed in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) for their first four seasons. During their time with the NPSL, the team headed to the Lone Star Conference Final twice, winning the Conference Championship in 2025.

“Last season was unforgettable,” Wolf said. “Our supporters helped us rank first in the NPSL in attendance, breaking our own record with 6,223 fans, win a conference championship, and make it to the Elite 8 – that’s something this city should be incredibly proud of. As we move into USL League Two, the competition is higher and the league is tougher, but that’s exactly how we like it.”

In addition to their success on the field, the Matadors remain heavily engaged in the Lubbock community and are a dedicated community partner for Lubbock ISD. Their players frequently attend school events, visit campuses and invite Lubbock ISD students and staff to their home games at Lowrey Field.

“We are proud to continue this wonderful partnership with the Lubbock Matadors, and we remain thankful for their engagement in our schools and with our students and staff,” said Dr. Kathy Rollo, Lubbock ISD superintendent. “We encourage our community to get out to Lowrey Field and show their support as the club continues to excel as part of the USL League Two.”

The 2026 Lubbock Matadors season begins in early May and runs through July, with playoffs expected in early August. The season will include six regular season  home games played at Lowrey Field and six regular season away games, as well as exhibition matches during the season. The home opener is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff on May 22, when the Matadors take on the Fort Worth Vaqueros.

“I want to sincerely thank all of the Lubbock ISD staff who help make our matchdays possible, both behind the scenes and on game days, as well as all the kids and families who show up week after week to support this club,” Wolf said. “Let’s start this new chapter with a bang and show the rest of the league what it truly means to come play in Lubbock.”
