Kathy Rollo, Ed.D., is in her eighth year as superintendent of Lubbock ISD and brings more than 30 years of experience in public education, all within the district she proudly calls home. A Lubbock native and graduate of Lubbock ISD schools, Dr. Rollo has devoted her entire career to serving the students and staff of her hometown.

Dr. Rollo holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree from Texas Tech University. She began her career as an elementary teacher at Waters and Martin, later serving as assistant principal at Rush and Haynes. She led Murfee Elementary as principal for ten years, earning and maintaining an Exemplary rating and helping the campus become a Core Knowledge visitation site.

In 2009, Dr. Rollo was appointed the district’s first executive director of professional development, where she built systems and partnerships that deepened instructional practice and improved student outcomes. She was named associate superintendent for elementary schools in 2013 and briefly served as an instructor at the Texas Tech College of Education before being appointed superintendent in 2018.

A graduate of the Holdsworth Center Superintendent Leadership Program and Region 17’s 2023 Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Rollo is guided by three leadership pillars: value data, love people, and develop leaders. She is deeply involved in the Lubbock community, serving on numerous boards including the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Covenant Children’s Hospital, Lubbock Area United Way (2023 board chair), and the Volunteer Center of Lubbock.

She and her husband, Robert, have three adult sons—each a proud Lubbock ISD graduate.

2026-2027 Superintendent's Student Advisory Council

Lubbock ISD Juniors & Seniors: Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Superintendent's Student Advisory Council! If you are a Lubbock ISD junior or senior high school student interested in meeting and hearing from students from across the district, learning more about how our district works and providing feedback to Superintendent Dr. Kathy Rollo, teachers and administrators on how we can improve the way we serve our students and families, we encourage you to join the council this year.

The program starts at the end of September 2026 and will meet six times through March 2027 (three times each semester). The hourlong meetings provide an opportunity for face-to-face time with Dr. Rollo, as well as district and campus leaders and decision makers in Lubbock ISD, and you will gain a wealth of knowledge about your district, our staff, your fellow students and our community.

Applications are now open and will close at midnight on Friday, Sept. 11. Those accepted into the council will be notified on Sept. 16.

Each meeting will take place from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the Wednesdays listed below in the Jay Gordon Room at the Lubbock ISD Central Office, 1628 19th St. Snacks will be provided. Students will need to arrange their transportation to and from the meetings.

Lubbock ISD Teachers: Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Superintendent's Teacher Advisory Council! The council is one more way for you to connect with your fellow teachers -- and students! -- from across the district, visit with district administrators and staff, and gain a deeper understanding of how Lubbock ISD works.

The meetings provide an opportunity for face-to-face time with Superintendent Dr. Kathy Rollo, as well as other leaders and decision makers in Lubbock ISD. You will gain a wealth of knowledge about our district, including how decisions are made to ensure its sustainability, future and functionality. You'll also get the chance to share ideas on how Dr. Rollo and our district leadership can better support you -- as an individual, as part of our team and in your efforts to nurture, develop and inspire every child, every day.
