Students and parents had some educational fun at the Roberts Elementary 3rd Grade Lunch and Learn! The topic of the Lunch and Learn was Short Constructed Responses (SCRs). The students took on the role of the teachers and showed their parents how to read a passage and respond to a question by restating the question and giving evidence from the text to support their answer. In PE, these Roberts Raiders are celebrating Black History Month by learning about influential leaders. Roy Roberts Elementary is named after Mr. Roy Roberts, who served students in LISD for more than 30 years. Roy Roberts was known in the community as a passionate educator and talented musician. He served as band director for Dunbar and was an assistant principal at Estacado before becoming principal of Dunbar High School. Roberts Elementary was opened in 2007 bearing the name of Mr. Roberts, an inspirational leader in the Lubbock Community. #WeAreLISD @RobertsRaiders @RoyRobertsPTA

Jack Burgess, the star punter for Texas Tech football, recently visited our school. His presence greatly inspired our 5th graders! Roberts 2nd graders experienced the Chinese Lunar New Year program hosted by the Texas Tech International Cultural Center. Students learned where China is located on the map, about Chinese money and traditions during the Lunar New Year celebration, and created dragon masks to participate in the dragon dance. #WeAreLISD @RobertsRaiders @RoyRobertsPTA

3rd Grade Roberts Raiders "Make Their Case" to defend their comprehension answers with evidence from the text they read.
