Counselor, Amy Crist

I am Amy Crist and I am so happy to be the school counselor at Wheelock Elementary! This is my second year here at Wheelock and my 19th year as a school counselor.  I am married and have two daughters, one who just graduated from Lubbock High and another one who is a senior at Texas Tech. I have lived in Lubbock for one year and absolutely love it!  Before being a school counselor I taught first grade and ESL. My door is always open to my students and their families.  I am here to help students when issues inside and outside of school impact their school progress and school experience  and to be the best they can be.

Additional ways I help students include:

  • Providing individual/small group counseling on an as needed basis

  • Facilitating Lunch Bunches to promote positive peer relationships

  • Classroom guidance lessons that promote positive self concept, making good decisions, conflict resolution skills, peer pressure & managing big feelings

  • Providing support during personal crisis

  • Coordinating referrals to outside agencies and counselors

  • Coordinating Student Support Team meetings

  • Coordinating 504 Plan referrals and evaluations

  • Developing student career awareness

  • Coordinating GT testing and services

  • Helping to create a safe and positive learning experience

Students can see me by being referred by teacher, administrator, or parent. Older students can also self refer.  I am at Wheelock every other Wednesday and every Thursday and Friday but you may always reach me at 806-219-2919 or amy.crist@lubbockisd.org
