Published author Mari Mancusi paid a visit to the Talkington SYWL today while in town for the Lubbock Book Festival. The Lady Warriors heard first hand what it takes to become a writer with Mancusi sharing her past experiences. In addition, she signed and gifted over 400 books for all the students in attendance!

Lubbock ISD is proud to announce that we have been awarded the TAEA District of Distinction for the sixth year in row. The Texas Art Education Association recognizes districts with outstanding leadership in promoting art in their district and community. Only 16 school districts have achieved this honor for six consecutive years - this means that the Lubbock ISD visual art programs is placed in the top 1.3% of all visual art programming in the state. Congratulations to our entire team of fine arts educators and administrators for your support of the arts in Lubbock ISD!

Last week, middle school students across Lubbock ISD participated in the Texas Tech University Middle School STEM Challenge! Our students created splash-tastic cardboard boats and raced across the Pete Ragus Aquatic Center in hopes of winning this year's event.
