📅 On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the City of Lubbock is partnering with Lubbock ISD for a full-scale active shooter training exercise at Atkins Middle School from 7:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
You’ll notice a large presence of law enforcement at the campus and temporary street closures in the area, including:
🚧 Avenue U from 54th to 60th St.
🚧 Temple Ave. from 54th to 58th St.
🚧 54th and 58th Streets from Avenue U to Temple Ave.
This training, planned months in advance, is a proactive step to strengthen emergency response and coordination between first responders, schools, and hospitals. #WeAreLubbockISD


Today on this Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We also extended our deepest gratitude to the military families within our district for their sacrifice. #WeAreLubbockISD

🎨 National Scholastic Art Competition Winners
Lubbock HS senior Evynn Martin earned both a National Gold Medal and prestigious National American Visions Medal for her artwork. 🏅
Hutchinson MS student Sophia Pinner received a National Silver Medal for her photography. 🥈
🌳 Keep Lubbock Beautiful Art Contest
Bean ES student Devin Flores earned the grand prize in the elementary division of Lubbock's Keep Lubbock Beautiful student art contest.
🧠 Academic Decathlon
Four Lubbock ISD teams showcased their academic excellence at the State Academic Decathlon teams earlier this year.
Lubbock HS captured first place in the medium school division clinching a spot at the national competition. 🏅
Monterey HS placed fourth in the medium school division. 🌟
Coronado HS earned seven individual medals with two students named the meet's overall top scorers. 👏
📚 UIL Academics
Six Lubbock ISD students excelled at the UIL Academic State Meet after placing first, second, and third in their respective competitions. 🏅
🏟️ Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA)
Seventeen students were selected to the THSCA All-State teams after impressive talent and exceptional athletic performances and contributions to their sport.

Lubbock ISD esports teams had a standout year, bringing home three state championships and two national championships across a variety of games. 🏆
