The Talkington Lady Warrior hosted a transition ceremony for the incoming sixth grade class of 2031. Upperclassmen helped welcome the class as they officially join the sisterhood. Each Lady Warrior received a t-shirt with their graduation year and encouragement from their classmates. Today at our first Coaches Media Luncheon at PlainsCapital Park, we had the honor of recognizing Donna Torrez, winner of the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Team Mom Appreciation Award. The award is given to team moms that go above and beyond to support their teams. Thank you to the Texas FFA travel team for visiting our AgriSTEM Complex this week! Members led students through a strengths-based workshop and team building exercises, along with providing information about how to find opportunities within FFA to develop and grow. We're excited to share that the new Innovation Station is ready to travel after its official reveal this morning! This flexible learning space allows schools to utilize the bus for providing creative learning opportunities for students. Thank you to our partners at Reliant Energy for "powering" this project, and for the students and teachers from O.L. Published author Mari Mancusi paid a visit to the Talkington SYWL today while in town for the Lubbock Book Festival. The Lady Warriors heard first hand what it takes to become a writer with Mancusi sharing her past experiences. In addition, she signed and gifted over 400 books for all the students in attendance!

Lubbock ISD is proud to announce that we have been awarded the TAEA District of Distinction for the sixth year in row. The Texas Art Education Association recognizes districts with outstanding leadership in promoting art in their district and community. Only 16 school districts have achieved this honor for six consecutive years - this means that the Lubbock ISD visual art programs is placed in the top 1.3% of all visual art programming in the state. Congratulations to our entire team of fine arts educators and administrators for your support of the arts in Lubbock ISD!
