After 78 unforgettable years, Overton Elementary celebrated it's history and legacy at it's closing ceremony.
To every administrator, every teacher, every parent, and every student who walked these halls since 1947, we thank you. As current principal Kevin Booe shared during his remarks during the program, the brick and mortar is important, but it’s the people who brought the spirit year after year, decade after decade, generation after generation, who made Overton a school.
Thank you to the community members, business and churches who supported Overton through the decades.
A heartfelt thank you to Community Complex FCU for feeding the great crowd with a cookout. And to the current and past administrators, and the cherished family members of Mr. Overton who joined us last night, your presence carried his legacy onward.
Though the doors may close, the legacy of Overton will echo throughout Lubbock in every lesson taught, every life touched, and every memory made within those walls. #WeAreLubbockISD
