Hey, Lubbock ISD families! 👋 This is a friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of Labor Day. We'll see everyone back in school on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Today marks the start of National Suicide Prevention Month. Every year, mental health organizations and individuals across the U.S. and around the world raise awareness of suicide prevention. If you or someone you know is hurting or needs help, please speak to a counselor or trusted adult. Congratulations to the recently-retired J.J. Johnson on receiving the 2023 Lubbock ISD Athletic Achievement Award. J.J. served as the head softball coach at Coronado High School for 19 years and retired from his role as an assistant athletic director after six years.

Talkington SYWL celebrated its newest 6th-grade members with its annual Transition Ceremony, complete with cheers, a class shirt, and upperclassmen acting as mentors to help adjust to the new school environment. #WeAreLubbockISD

We welcomed staff to our beginning of the year LEAD Retreat this week. While discussing teamwork, relationship building, and topics that help prepare us for the upcoming school year, we also found time to enjoy each other's company and have a bit of fun. #WeAreLubbockISD
