Mrs. Henricks - Librarian

I am Mrs. Henricks, the Librarian Media Specialist at Talkington SYWL. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Language Arts with a specialization in Reading from Lubbock Christian University and a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas. I have been with LISD for 15 years, more specifically at Talkington. Before moving to the library, I taught 7th and 8th-grade RLA. In 2017, I had the opportunity to move to our library, and I have enjoyed every moment here. My primary responsibility is to provide our girls the opportunity to read books and enjoy the books they read.

Mrs. Brock and I handle badges, both permanent and temporary, daily. Of course, I also have many other responsibilities on campus, technology being my second most important.

I sponsor UIL Dictionary Skills and co-coordinate Title 1 for our school. I am also a proud member of the Spirit of Texas (SPOT) committee and have served as co-chair of TeacherDay@TLA and currently serve as the advisor.

If you have any questions or need assistance, you can reach me via email at brenda.henricks@lubbockisd.org or by calling 806-219-2222.

Mrs. Brock - Counselors Assistant

Hello! I am Jennifer Brock. I have been a staff member at Talkington for 2 years now, but before this, I was a parent of two Talkington students (now graduates) from 2014-2023.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Texas A&M-Commerce and worked for KSCS Radio Station in Dallas, Radio Disney, Philanthropy in Texas Magazine, the Disney Store, and was a nanny for many years while living in the Dallas area. A volunteer position at the Lone Star Film and Television Awards in 1998, led to a job with the Texas Country Reporter Festival and ghostwriting for a newspaper reporter. (You never know where volunteering can lead.)

Once I moved to Lubbock, I worked at Texas Tech University. I recruited students for the Petroleum Engineering Department for three years before I was lucky enough to stay home and raise our two daughters until we came to Talkington.

I help Mrs. Henricks in the library with badges and Chromebooks, am an aide to Mrs. Graham and Ms. Jackson, and help anyone else in the building with whatever they need.
