📊 Bond Fact Friday: 5 Things to Know Before You Vote Early voting for the May 3 bond election starts Monday. Here are 5 quick facts to know before heading to the polls: 1️⃣ The 2025 bond proposal totals $290 million and focuses on facility improvements across Lubbock ISD. 2️⃣ Projects include new elementary schools, upgrades to science labs, fine arts spaces, infrastructure, and CTE program expansions. 3️⃣ By law, bond funds can only be used for capital projects—not for salaries, supplies, or daily operations. 4️⃣ Lubbock ISD’s tax rate is the lowest it’s been in over 30 years, and the bond is structured to keep the tax rate the same under current law. 5️⃣ Texas requires all bond ballots to say “This is a property tax increase,” even when the tax rate is not expected to change. The phrase appears because bonds authorize the district to issue debt—even if the tax rate doesn’t change. While new bonds do add to our overall debt portfolio, this bond does not require a change in the tax rate. 📲 Learn more: www.LubbockISD.org/2025bond #BondFactFriday #LubbockISD2025Bond #KnowBeforeYouVote #StayInTheKnow
