Today, our HVAC students and teachers honored Jim and Jodi Hamlin from South Plains TACCA for their generous support of our Lubbock ISD HVAC programs. Our students were fortunate enough to participate in TACCA's "Heat the Town" event, where local contractors service ACs and heaters for elderly citizens who don't have the means. Lubbock ISD students were helpers, serving over 70 deserving homes. Thanks Jim and Jodi for making this happen! And thank you to Mr Ramsey and Mr Martinez for ordaining this opportunity for our students!
Our ATC representatives were in Austin today for SkillsUSA Legislative Day. After sessions on the legislative process, advocacy, how to prepare for a legislative visit, and parliamentary procedure, students met with their legislators at the Capitol! 🏛️ #skillsusatexas #skillsusa #skillsusatx

Today, students in Mr. Henry's EMT class visited the Emergency Deparment at UMC. Students were able to see what it will be like when they do their clinical rotations in the ED, as well as what to expect when they are transporting patients in crisis. What a great learning opportunity!

We were so excited to have 8th graders from Mackenzie and Cavazos Middle Schools at the ATC today for a tour! Many of our 8th graders remembered visiting us in 5th grade and knew exactly which classes they want to take in high school. A special shout out to our ATC Ambassadors! They did a great job leading the tours!
Mrs. Olden's ATC students participated in the 7th Annual Art Fest, sponsored by Complex Community Credit Union at LHUCA. Students were able to make prints of their digital art with the help of the laser engraver that Mr. Hust has in Building Trades. They also had an opportunity to throw on the wheel and create scanograms with Texas Tech art faculty.
SkillsUSA District 3's Fall Leadership Conference is underway! Student leaders traveled to SPC in Levelland to take part in team building and leadership activities in preparation for this year's activities and competitions.

ATC student Ray Portillo, MHS, high school winner of the City of Lubbock's ReUse It contest was interviewed on Trends and Friends this morning at KLBK. You can see the airing on Tuesday at 5pm.
Contest winners won $100 cash, a $50 gift card from Play It Again Sports and the Grand Prize winner will have their design put on a City of Lubbock sanitation truck.
