🌍✨ Exploring Africa with Our 1st Grade Raiders! ✨🌍
A HUGE thank you to the Texas Tech University International Cultural Center for bringing the amazing culture of the Maasai people of East Africa to our 1st grade classrooms! ❤️🖤
Our students traveled to southern Kenya and northern Tanzania as they learned about Maasai traditions, communal living, herding, intricate beadwork, and coming-of-age traditions. 🐄🌍
They discovered how cattle are an important part of Maasai culture—and how cattle are important in our own community, too! Students also got creative by making beaded bracelets and masks and had a blast participating in a traditional jumping contest!
What an incredible hands-on learning experience! We are so grateful for our partnership with Texas Tech and the opportunity to help our Raiders learn about, appreciate, and celebrate cultures from around the world! 🌎❤️🖤
