Calling all Mackenzie 7th & 8th Grade Football Players! This Thursday, September 3rd, our Raiders are getting a special opportunity to experience what it feels like to be a FUTURE MUSTANG at the CHS vs. Lubbock High football game! ❤️🖤🏈
This is going to be an AWESOME night for our athletes! Our Raiders will:
📣 Be introduced on the field
📺 Have their pictures displayed on the video board
🤝 Meet and shake hands with CHS Head Football Coach Andrew Roy at midfield
🏈 Meet members of the CHS football team
🔥 RUN THROUGH THE HELMET with the high school team!
⏰ PRE-GAME SCHEDULE
5:45–6:00 PM — Middle school athletes arrive at the Southwest Band Ramp
6:20 PM — Teams line up in the South “D” area
6:35 PM — Irons, Mackenzie & McCool athletes are introduced
7:00 PM — RUN THROUGH THE HELMET! 🏈🔥
7:02 PM — National Anthem 🇺🇸
🚌 TRANSPORTATION: Both 7th and 8th grade teams will ride the bus to the event. Following the National Anthem, athletes will return by bus to Mackenzie for parent pickup unless they are staying at the game with a parent.
👨👩👦 STAYING FOR THE GAME? Parents who would like their athlete to remain with them must complete a travel release form and meet the team at the top of the band ramp closest to the scoreboard. Athletes may re-enter through Gate 2 and must have a pass.
🎟️ Parents attending the game must purchase a ticket.
👜 Clear Bag Policy is in effect.
Coach Woodberry will share additional information and instructions through SportsYou, so please be watching for those updates.
This is about more than one night under the lights. It is about giving our Raiders a glimpse of where their hard work can take them.

ACE is a FREE after-school program designed to provide students with a safe and supportive environment where they can learn, make new friends, explore their interests, and have fun. Students can participate in homework help, clubs, enrichment activities, arts, mentoring, college and career exploration, and hands-on projects.

Parents and Guardians, Did You Know Mackenzie Middle School Is a 1-to-1 Campus?
What does that mean? Every Mackenzie student is assigned a Chromebook during their time at Mackenzie at no cost to families.
These Chromebooks are an important part of your student’s learning experience, giving them access to instructional resources, information, assignments, and engaging learning activities throughout the school year.
With that opportunity comes great responsibility. Students are expected to take care of their Chromebook so it remains available and in good working condition throughout their time at Mackenzie.
To help us protect these devices, Chromebooks will be checked out each morning and checked in each afternoon.
IMPORTANT: Beginning August 20, students must have a clear or mesh backpack every day in order to check out their Chromebook.
Please help us make sure your student has a clear or mesh backpack before our first Chromebook checkout on August 20 so their instructional time is not interrupted.
We understand that purchasing a backpack may be an unexpected expense for some families. If this presents a financial challenge, our phenomenal Communities In Schools representative is available to help. Please reach out to us, and we will be happy to connect you with available resources.

Parent Participation Plan
OUR MISSION
As part of our mission to nurture, develop, and inspire every child, every day, we know we are most successful when home and school work together.
Partnering with families to support positive student behavior, regular attendance, and strong learning habits—especially daily reading at home and monitoring student grades - are just a few ways we can ensure success for all Lubbock ISD students.
LEARNING AT HOME
Families can:
Read with your child everyday for 15-20 minutes and talk about what they are reading
Check your child’s grades weekly and contact the school with questions
Schools will:
Share reading expectations and tips
Keep grades up to date
Provide support to families to access and navigate the gradebook system
ATTENDANCE
Families can:
Make sure your child gets enough sleep
Help your child arrive at school on time
Let the school know if your child will be absent
Schools will:
Share the importance of daily attendance
Contact families when attendance becomes a concern
Help families solve attendance challenges
BEHAVIOR
Families can:
Talk with your child about school rules and expectations
Praise your child for positive behavior

Dear Lubbock ISD families & staff,
The Texas Education Agency requires all public schools in Texas to provide at least 75,600 minutes of instruction for students each school year. Any time a school day is canceled, started late or dismissed early, the district evaluates if there is a need for makeup days to ensure we meet the instructional minutes requirement for the school year.
After considering our three recent snow days (Friday, Monday and Tuesday of this week) and our late-start on Wednesday due to weather, we found that we will not need to make any schedule changes for our elementary and middle school students to meet the requirement. However, to ensure that we complete the required number of instructional minutes for our high school students, late-start Wednesdays are canceled for the rest of the spring semester, beginning this Wednesday (Feb. 4).
With this change, we will meet the instructional minutes requirement for all students across the district. This means that we will not need to use the student holiday on March 23 or the student and staff holiday on April 6 as makeup days – for now, these will remain as holidays.
If we experience more inclement weather this spring that requires cancelations, delays or early dismissals, we will reevaluate at that time to determine if schedule changes and/or make up days are needed.

This week we had a friendly competition in Mrs. Patino’s 8th grade class for maintaining classroom expectations, starting on time, staying engaged throughout the lesson, and getting the most out of our educational hours and 4th period won 🏆 fair and squared some yummy donuts 🍩

👏🏈 Huge shoutout to our Mackenzie Middle School 7th grade football teams! Both A and B teams worked hard in their scrimmage against Irons, showing tremendous growth and practicing the way they’ll play in the weeks ahead.
A big thank you to the Irons Cougars and the Coronado High School coaches for their mentorship with our young men—it takes a village!
We are especially grateful for Coach Woodberry, Coach Hall, Coach Tarango, and Coach Hart for the time, energy, and heart they pour into developing our athletes both on and off the field. Raider Pride runs deep! ❤️🖤

swimming or diving team. (Must know how to swim, but no previous team experience is necessary.)
WHEN: Thursday, September 4th from 5:30- 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: PETE RAGUS AQUATIC CENTER, 2004 14th St.

Students must have a current doctor’s physical to try out.
A summer swimming suit can be used for tryouts.
If a child does not have a suit, one will be made available for them at the
aquatic center.
