Gamma Gamma Phi is extending the Talkington book donation drive until February 14th. If you have books at home that you no longer want or need, donate them to the Talkington Library. A few details you should know: - The donation bins are in the cafeteria - The donation bins are separated into Middle School and High School to keep track of the donation count - Whichever group donates more books, middle school or high school, will be awarded a sweats day on the first full dress Wednesday after AE day - The top donation prize will be announced on AE Day, which will also mark the last day of the drive Books should be in good to very good condition, without rips, writing, or other damage. Hardback books are highly preferred, as they can withstand more wear and tear. Books should be appropriate for the school's grade levels and curriculum. If there are already multiple copies of a book in our collection, it may not be accepted. Any books not accepted by the Talkington library will be donated to the Lubbock Public Library.

Huge thank you to Optimum and Univision, the sponsors of the Hispanic Heritage Essay Contest. Today, their representative, Lucinda Escobar, came to Talkington to present Charly Iaulualo with an iPad and fancy case for her winning entry in the contest. She also gave Mrs. Couch a $500 Donors Choose gift card to fund a project for our school! When she presented the certificate to Charly, Ms. Escobar mentioned how much Charly's essay had touched her, saying it really meant a lot to her. That's incredible. Way to go, Charly! Keep up the amazing work!

Congratulations to the amazing Makayla Mack, Talkington class of 2025! She has been accepted to 8 colleges and been offered several scholarships so far--more money to come for sure! She is an incredible product of LISD schools, attending Alderson Elementary before coming to Talkington.
