We are thrilled to announce that we had three amazing Warriors represent Talkington very well this week at the Optimist International Oratorical Contest at the Boys and Girls Club: 7th grader Marlowe Barnes, 8th grader Abigail Coon, and 9th grader Charly Iaulualo. Marlowe placed 2nd and won $300 and Charly placed 3rd and won $200.
We love to see our Warriors applying to GET THAT MONEY and to have new experiences. It is so important to take these types of educational risks and put yourselves out there. Way to go! We are so proud!
Thank you, Optimist Club of Lubbock, for hosting such a wonderful event and for your continued generosity.

We want to shout out a HUGE thank you to Tiffany Lilly-Essix, Brittany and Devins Angels Nonprofit Corporation, and Superior HealthPlan for their incredible support of our Warrior students and staff members. Ms. Lilly-Essix has served as a mentor to several of our seniors this semester, and they helped host an event yesterday for our 6th and 7th graders to promote kindness, concern for others, and awareness of needs in our school community. Through this partnership, students received goodies and encouragement from the volunteers. In addition, the volunteers set up a wonderful snack and soda station for our teachers to share some love with them, as well as awarding several teachers with certificates of appreciation for their work with the students. We are beyond grateful for this community outreach and the invaluable mentorship Ms. Lilly-Essix is providing our Warriors. Thank you to everyone for this wonderful support.

This Friday is Rhyme without Reason Day! Find a partner or group of friends, and imitate two things that rhyme.
Examples:
Waiter and Skater
Rock Star and Guitar
Weight Lift and Taylor Swift
A Cat, a Hat, and a Placemat
Hopefully you get the idea. As with ALL of our dress up days, your costume must cover your body just like a uniform: nothing too short or revealing will be allowed. Also, all costumes should be appropriate for a school setting. Use your wise judgement on your rhymes and outfits, please.
Thank you, Student Council, for giving us these silly days to help us connect and share a few laughs.
