Mackenzie Students and Parents: We have made a slight adjustment to our bell schedule. We will no longer have staggered bells for 6th and 7th/8th grade. See new schedule below!

This week we had a friendly competition in Mrs. Patino’s 8th grade class for maintaining classroom expectations, starting on time, staying engaged throughout the lesson, and getting the most out of our educational hours and 4th period won 🏆 fair and squared some yummy donuts 🍩

We are celebrating National Arts in Education Week! Thank you to our amazing fine arts teachers at Mackenzie! Mr. Obando, Mr. Camarena, Ms. Handlin, Mr. Timmerman and Ms. Gschwend The arts are essential to a well-rounded education, helping students develop creativity, critical thinking, and confidence. 👏🏈 Huge shoutout to our Mackenzie Middle School 7th grade football teams! Both A and B teams worked hard in their scrimmage against Irons, showing tremendous growth and practicing the way they’ll play in the weeks ahead. A big thank you to the Irons Cougars and the Coronado High School coaches for their mentorship with our young men—it takes a village! We are especially grateful for Coach Woodberry, Coach Hall, Coach Tarango, and Coach Hart for the time, energy, and heart they pour into developing our athletes both on and off the field. Raider Pride runs deep! ❤️🖤

2025 FALL TRYOUTS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL
SWIMMING AND DIVING!!

WHO: All current 7th and 8th graders interested in being on a middle school
swimming or diving team. (Must know how to swim, but no previous team experience is necessary.)
WHEN: Thursday, September 4th from 5:30- 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: PETE RAGUS AQUATIC CENTER, 2004 14th St.

A summer swimming suit can be used for tryouts.

If a child does not have a suit, one will be made available for them at the
aquatic center.

Mr. Obando, our theater teacher, will be holding auditions for Advanced Theater this Wednesday and Thursday. If you are interested, please stop by and see him. Anyone is welcome to audition!

All parents, students and staff should download the HomeTown Fan app to purchase online tickets for all Lubbock ISD Athletic events.   Lubbock ISD will be CASHLESS for the 2025-2026 school year for all MS & HS athletic and fine arts events.   (QR Code posters will be available for all venue entrances.) Athletic event tickets will go on sale at 8:00am each Monday morning during the school year. Tickets can also be bought online through the athletics district website.
