Wednesday, August 12th at 5:00 PM
Location: Talkington Cafeteria
All MS CA parents and athletes are required to attend this mandatory parent meeting. We will cover important information for the upcoming school year, expectations, and other details parents need to know. Please contact trevor.kelly@lubbockisd.org for any questions.

1. We are bringing back Full Dress Wednesdays every Wednesday! No more wondering if this is a 2.0 week! Students will wear full dress each week, just like our students used to do. We hope this change will eliminate confusion and cut down on dress code violations.
2. Since we are a college-preparatory campus, we are going to allow students an option for their Friday dress: they can continue to wear Talkington shirts, or they can wear college shirts to support their favorite schools! This policy will be in effect every Friday, not just the first Friday of the month. We are #collegebound here at Talkington!

It is almost time to welcome the incredible Class of 2027 to their final year of high school. Seniors, check the Class of 27 Google Classroom for more details. Parents and families, get those cameras (and probably tissues) ready!
The first day of school will be a full dress uniform day, perfect for capturing beautiful photos of our Warriors on their last first day at Talkington.

We look forward to seeing you all soon!

High School: Tuesday, July 28
Middle School: Thursday, July 30
You must wear a Talkington polo, or one will provided for you.
Your hair and jewelry must meet our dress code standards to take the photo (natural hair color, no oversized jewelry, only small nose stud allowed, etc.).
You MAY also be able to pick up your Chromebooks on this day (for returning students) if time allows.
If you cannot come this summer, no worries at all. You can also take your photo during the first week of school.
We are really getting excited to have everyone back on campus for an incredible year!

Warriors can earn college credits right here at Talkington to save time and money in the future!
Interested students can contact brandi.couch@lubbockisd.org, or see Google Classroom for the information about how to apply.

We have more time to plan amazing Homecoming festivities because the date has been moved!
Homecoming week is now October 19-24.
Our tailgate party will be October 24 at 10am at Estacado, with the games beginning at 11am.
Our high school dance will be from 7-10pm that evening.
We can't wait to cheer on our Lady Warriors!

This communication tool will be used by our PTSA to make sure senior families know about upcoming senior events, like senior photos, senior sunrise, graduation, college admissions, and all the amazing things happening for our Warriors this year! Please join today by downloading the Band app and using this invite link https://band.us/n/a1aeb1cap5HcN or the QR code on the flyer.

We have just been approved for our seniors to schedule their photo sessions for yearbook photos in July at this website: www.westtexasphoto.com/seniors2027. If students cannot make it this summer, they can have their yearbook photo taken on August 28 at school.
Parents are welcome & encouraged to come along to the photo session! They'll be offering photos through July 24th. In addition to the cap/gown photo for the yearbook, students are also welcome to sign up for additional studio photos (at no extra cost) in the outfit of their choice and using the background of their choice. This is a great cost effective option for additional senior photos!
Here's a short informational video about their process: https://youtu.be/fkrtw9SENKg

If you can't make it to this event, we will announce other pick-up opportunities soon.
**Graduates can pick up their books at the Alumni Meeting on July 29.

July 30th, 2026
Lubbock High West Gym
8:00 am - 4:00 pm
$25.00 cash or check only
Students must have the Consent form and Medical History filled out completely before the physical can be done. (Students can find these forms in their grade level Google Classrooms.)
If you have any questions, contact the coaches:
trevor.kelly@lubbockisd.org MS
zabrina.kelley@lubbockisd.org HS

Students will need their Chromebooks, if they have them.
We will learn about what colleges are looking for in each section of the application, what the colleges on your list (or the ones that should be on your list) find most important in an applicant, where to find and how to win the most competitive scholarships, and how to tell your story--which, for many, is the hardest part.
If you have any questions about the workshop, email brandi.couch@lubbockisd.org.

Much, much more to come!

Families will not need to send school supplies early or bring them to Open House (August 11). Please do not feel like you have to send all of the classroom supplies at once. Students can bring those over the first several days of class to avoid trying to carry way more than they actually should at one time. (We have seen some very creative Warriors carrying everything from the list, plus their backpacks and lunch kits and more, in the past. While we loved seeing them invent ways to defy physics, we will be happy for them not to have to do that. 😊)
High school students will receive their supply lists at Open House (August 11) or on the first day of school (August 12).
Our 2026-2027 school year is almost here, and we CANNOT WAIT to welcome you all home.

It is not too late to attend Talkington for the 2026-2027 school year. If you know someone who would be interested, please have them reach out to us today!
