We want to shout out a HUGE thank you to Tiffany Lilly-Essix, Brittany and Devins Angels Nonprofit Corporation, and Superior HealthPlan for their incredible support of our Warrior students and staff members. Ms. Lilly-Essix has served as a mentor to several of our seniors this semester, and they helped host an event yesterday for our 6th and 7th graders to promote kindness, concern for others, and awareness of needs in our school community. Through this partnership, students received goodies and encouragement from the volunteers. In addition, the volunteers set up a wonderful snack and soda station for our teachers to share some love with them, as well as awarding several teachers with certificates of appreciation for their work with the students. We are beyond grateful for this community outreach and the invaluable mentorship Ms. Lilly-Essix is providing our Warriors. Thank you to everyone for this wonderful support.

Obarita is headed to the FIRST Robotics World Championship!
We had 4 semifinalists out of 18 for the FIRST Leadership Award in Robotics: Obarita Aarushi, Shelby Davis, Aeris Galaz, Lara Peters Buriche Terra De Moraes. Over the weekend, they announced the 3 finalists from our Region, and Obarita Aarushi is now headed to World's in Houston at the end of April. If selected as one of the 10 winners, she will be eligible to apply for a $10,000 grant for college (Woodie Flowers Memorial Grant) and be featured in promotional videos and spotlights on the FIRST website.
Obarita is the 3rd finalist in Talkington history, and she's one of 250+ from around the world! Way to go, Obarita!

We are excited to share a new spring event hosted by Middle School Student Council! This year, instead of the traditional Father-Daughter Dance, we will be hosting a BBQ with Dads. Join us on Saturday, March 28th for great food and fun. There will be BBQ, drinks, desserts, and games for students and their special guests to enjoy together.
Tickets are $5 per father daughter group and $5 for each additional guest. All father figures are welcome. Tickets may be purchased during student lunches, or students can stop by Mrs. Allison’s room to buy one. See flyer below for additional information.

Students in all grade levels (6-12) are invited to join us for a scholarship essay writing workshop (part II of their College and Career lesson this month) on February 25 from 4:15-5:15 in the cafeteria.
After the workshop, we would love to have parents and guardians join us from 5:15-6:00 to discuss the entire scholarship application process and to help their child set goals for applying. We will look at college costs specific to your family to help determine the intensity with which your child needs to pursue scholarships. Free money is ALWAYS a good thing!
