Warrior Family, please help us welcome our new theatre teacher, Emily Hooper.
Ms. Hooper graduated from Lubbock Christian University with a Theatre Education degree. She has been involved in theatre since she was very young, being on and off stage as a director, actor, lighting and sound technician, and stage manager. She was awarded the academic excellence award from LCU’s School of Education and the outstanding theatre award from LCU’s School of Fine Arts twice. She is currently working on co-directing the Elementary LISD theatre camp for the third year in a row. We know she will continue to grow our program here, and we cannot wait to see the amazing productions she will oversee. Welcome to the Warrior family, Ms. Hooper!

We are so excited to welcome our new 7th grade social studies and Senior Seminar teacher, Toia Allison!
Mrs. Allison is a product of LISD, having attended having attended Waters Elementary, Hutchinson Middle School, and Monterey High School. She pursued higher education on a basketball scholarship at Blinn College and Wayland Baptist University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She also earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University.
She comes to us from Atkins, where she dedicated the past ten years to teaching a mix of 8th and 6th-grade social studies, as well as AVID, in addition to many campus leadership roles. We are so very lucky to have this amazing teacher as part of our Warrior family. Welcome aboard! We know you will continue to change lives!

Violet Delano wins the American History Award!
The American History Award is given to one 8th grader a year who has demonstrated an exceptional work ethic, been an extraordinary classmate, shown a unique passion for the history of her country, and exceeded all of her teacher's expectations. The plaque hangs in the history hallway, displaying all of our previous winners. Congratulations, Violet! Thank you, Mr. S. and Mr. Mason, for your work teaching American history.

The Young Women’s Preparatory Network has selected our own Casey Wilkins as a YWPN Educators of Excellence Award winner. This incentive program was established to help celebrate the hard work and commitment of the educators serving the young women in the YWPN schools located throughout the state of Texas. The honorees were nominated by their principals and selected to undergo a rigorous selection process, which included a comprehensive application and an interview.
Mrs. Wilkins has been an educator for 16 years, 12 of those at Talkington. She teaches math, oversees our high school academic UIL Program, serves as senior class sponsor, and has been a department lead. She exhibits all of the wonderful traits this award seeks to recognize in quality educators. Talkington is very lucky to have such a dedicated, caring, and supportive teacher. She has changed so many lives and certainly deserves this award. Congratulations, Mrs. Wilkins.

Scholarship Winner!
Mackenzie Mason was awarded a $1000 scholarship for her excellent art and animation portfolio presented at the Texas Tech School of Art/LISD Scholarship Competition. In addition, she was also awarded a $250 scholarship to attend the TTU School of Art pre-immersion program this summer. These are just some of her fabulous images she created for this portfolio!

We had many more students than we anticipated sign up for the crafting sessions on Academic Enrichment Day. In order to allow more students to get their first choice of activity, we need your help. If you have old t-shirts, shirt buttons, sewing thread, or bracelet-making supplies, please bring those to Mrs. Couch's office by this Friday, May 17. Thank you for your support.

Thank you so much for the wonderful morning treat PTSA & The Soda Shack!!!! Our teachers and staff greatly appreciated it!!!!

College Signing Day highlighted the successes of the Class of 2024. Seniors took home over $30,000 in scholarships (putting them very close to $8 million in total scholarship awards) and heard great advice from the fabulous speakers. Christiana McCourt was named Miss THS. We are so proud of these amazing Warriors, and we know you are all off to do great things in college.
