BIG thank you to the Escobedo family, owners of Fuzzy's Taco Shop, for their incredibly generous donation of ALL OF THE MEALS delivered to all Lubbock first responders at fire stations, EMS, and police stations for First Responders Appreciation on September 11. It was such an honor to deliver these delicious meals to our heroes.

Once again, Talkington showed our commitment to honoring our first responders on September 11 , Patriot's Day and National Day of Service. For our annual 9/11 First Responders Appreciation project, students made cards and bags with donated snack items. These photos capture the students, families, and PTA members preparing the bags, and the wonderful first responders who visited to show us some of their amazing, life-saving tools. Thank you to PTA for the dinner donation for our hard workers on the set-up day, to our first first responders for the education and tour of the vehicles, and to our Warrior families for your donations of time and snacks! Great job, Ms. Cardelli and PTA, who organized this event.

Our 7th graders are doing loads of creative thinking and deep analysis in their Reading-Language Arts class. Mrs. Hamblin has taught them to use hexagonal thinking, to take poetry line-by-line, and to figure out character motivation with STEAL Characterization. With activities like this, students certainly love learning, which will help their skills continue to grow. #teamwork #readersareleaders

Look at these delighted faces! Students in Mrs. Sanders' classes explored science phenomena to investigate chemical and physical changes. It is wonderful to see our Warriors valuing the learning process and diving into STEM. Thank you, Mrs. Sanders, for sparking joy. #womeninSTEM #WarriorsLoveLearning

We will have our back to school pep rally this Monday, August 26. Our wonderful cheerleaders have selected a fun theme based on Teen Beach Movie, so all students are invited to dress up as either bikers or surfers. All costumes must be school appropriate (no excess skin showing, no inappropriate images, no bare feet). We are excited to cheer on our athletes and show our Warrior pride.

Our first Wednesday Enrichment activity encouraged our students to think about what it means to be a Warrior. Using our Student Creed, students worked in groups to explain what a Warrior should sound like, look like, and act like. We look forward to weekly SEL and leadership training for our middle school students during their enrichment time.

Thank you for bearing with us as we implement our new drop-off and pick-up procedures at Talkington! For both, please pull up ALL the way to Door 6 (last cone). This will ensure the line doesn't back up as much. For pick-up, it would be helpful to have a sheet of paper with your student's name and grade level in BOLD so we can circulate the name.
