Honorable Mention means their exhibit or presentation or effort are commendable. Honorable Mention went to Kimber Baxter, Aislyn Boles, Edith Christopher, Eve Crider, Anna Dinger, Gabby Ferrell, Lila Fowler, Abby Hannon, Kagan Hernandez, Kaylee Lopez, Finley Martinez, Cassie Rae, Isobella Reyes, Katherine Rinehart, Madi Roberts, Delilah Rodriguez, Nayeli Sanchez, Corina Smith, Brooke Taylor, Claire Taylor, Lilly Taylor & Bri’Ele Torrez.
The Top 10 List means their exhibit, presentation, sources, and effort stood out to the judges. The following students were on the Top 10 List: Addie Hohbein, Jordana Hollis, Nicole Marston, Victoria Gomez, Anna Galbraith, Charly Iaulualo & Destiny Owuor.
Of the Top 10 list, 3 students had exemplary exhibits, presentations, wide research with multiple primary sources, connection to the theme, multiple perspectives, and went above and beyond on their project. Vera Bray, Allison Phillips, and Jalia Siwatu were the Top 3 students and will advance to Regional History Day at Texas Tech in March.

THS Mock Trial is ADVANCING to the semifinals! They will take on LHS on Monday, and would love everyone to come out to support them at the Lubbock County Courthouse. Arrive before 5pm to get checked in before the trial begins. Way to go, Warriors! We are so proud of this program!

Congratulations to our 7th grade basketball teams. Both A and B defeated OL Slaton last night. 7th grade B won 30-9 with Lindy Davis leading her team with 10 points followed by Kagan Hernandez with 6.
Our 7th A team won 42-8 with ALL Lady Warriors contributing points. Vera Bray lead her team with 10 points followed by Jalia Siwatu with 8 points. Congratulations on a great night of basketball ladies!


THS Mock Trial came away with a big win! Our Defense team won all 3 judges' ballots.
Amiya Vanapalli got a ballot for outstanding witness
Noura Islam got 2 ballots for outstanding witness
And Catherine Lithuania won ALL THREE ballots for outstanding attorney.
What a night that was for THS Mock Trial! Tonight our team competes as Plaintiff, and they would love to have your support. You can attend for free! Report to the Lubbock County Courthouse before 5:00pm. You will really enjoy watching!

REMINDER: 6th graders need to return their signed choice sheets for 7th grade schedules to Ms. Jackson as soon as possible.

We gave away more awards than ever before! We are grateful to Kendall Toelle (THS Class of 2020), who returned to Talkington as our guest speaker to share great advice with our Lady Warriors. Big shout out to Mrs. Cortez for organizing such an amazing event!




Sixth grade families, all 6th graders are bringing home their choice sheets for 7th grade classes. Please review their choices and sign the forms to return to Ms. Jackson, our middle school counselor. The class of 2028 is preparing to celebrate their final year in middle school with an amazing 8th grade Banquet. Please come out and support them on January 23rd from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Fuzzy's Taco shop located at 10101 Slide Rd by purchasing some tasty brownies. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the planning committee. Event Spotlight: Father-Daughter Dance
Allison Ward, 7th grader, shared this photo of her with her dad at last year's event. Allison said, "I really enjoyed spending time with my dad and having fun at the dance. This was by far my favorite thing that happened during my 6th grade year."
Middle schoolers are invited to bring a father figure to the dance on Saturday, February 10, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Grand Central Venue. Tickets can be purchased from Mr. Mason for $20 (includes the Talkington student and her father figure), and you can add additional siblings for only $5. Talkington Varsity won FIRST PLACE at the Texas Tech Law School Mock Trial Invitational! They went undefeated all three rounds and pulled a win against LHS.
Mia Butler and Treasure Kowino won overall Outstanding Witnesses and Noura Islam won Overall Outstanding Attorney. That means our Warriors won three of the four top awards given out!
Talkington JV won FOURTH PLACE, which is incredibly impressive considering this was their very first competition ever, and they competed against 2 strong varsity teams. We've never had that success at the JV level.
What amazing results! Please join us in congratulating our mock trial students and their advisor, Mr. Butler.
If you've never been to a mock trial event, you are definitely missing out. It is like a TV courtroom drama! Come see the Varsity team in Prelims on Monday-Wednesday, January 22-24. Semifinals are the following Monday, January 29, and Finals are Tuesday, January 30. You will need to be at the Lubbock County Courthouse before 5pm and they usually run until about 7:30. Well worth your time, believe me!
